• What kind of a world is facing our children?
• How do they feel about what lies ahead?
• Are they learning what they need to learn?
• Do they have access to the kind of primary education that’s best for them?
• Do the present links between home, school and local support services serve parents'/ carers' and children's best interests?
The Primary Review hopes to answer these questions - and many more. It is a two-year independent enquiry into the condition and future of primary education in England. It was launched in October 2006 and will publish its final report in October 2008. The last such review took place 40 years ago and a lot has changed since then. During 2006-7, the team leading the enquiry, which is based at Cambridge University, is gathering evidence and information from many sources. One of them, we hope, will be you.
It is vital that as many parents and carers as possible pass on to us their experiences and views. You are at the receiving end of your child’s reactions to school and this gives you special insights. You understand your child’s hopes and fears. You have a feel for the kind of school with which you and your child can most successfully relate. We’d like to invite you to share with us your views about the present system and how you believe it should be improved so that your child can face the future with real confidence. It’s an opportunity not to be missed!
This section of our website provides short cuts to those parts of the site which may be of particular interest to parents/carers, though of course we would encourage you to roam freely across the entire site.
Please participate in the Review. Join the debate about the future of primary education, and encourage your children to do so. Let us know what you think.
